Shop Talk – Shake the Tree

Hello Beauties, hope that you all had a fantastic weekend. I know that most of my blogger babes are still giddy from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I’ve enjoyed seeing your awesome posts and fabulous style picks. However, I chose to avoid the sale. Don’t get me wrong I love sales just as much as the next girl and the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is one of the most anticipated sales of the year.

Instead of following the crowd to Nordstrom I decided to go in a different direction.  I blame it on this beautiful weather, longer days and the relaxed laid back attitude of Summer, which has evoked this carefree, easy-going and unhurried mood of mine. So, I avoided the malls and  headed to  Boston’s historic “North End” Italian waterfront neighborhood.

My inspiration to do so was to visit Shake The Tree Boutique. I was looking for gift ideas on-line when I came across Shake The Tree’s website and I knew I had to check it out for myself. So, I talked Andy into spending the day with me in the North End ☺

When I walked into the store I was warmly greeted by owner Marian Klausner who invited me to take a look around her beautifully curated store. This beautiful boutique had everything that I adore and more – gorgeous summer dresses, handbags, handmade jewelry, contemporary home goods, colorful stationery, small brand apothecary, cocktail plus barware supplies, global cookbooks, and darling baby gifts.

I saw this easy breezy high low dress in the store window…and it was on SALE!!! For $60.00 it was love at first sight

And of course I had to pair the dress with a few of these gorgeous accessories What do you think about these earring and necklace?

I had an amazing shopping experience at Shake The Tree.  I enjoyed browsing the shelves and loved the personal service.  We were even treated to some delicious caramel candy  It was the perfect, relaxed, laid back shopping experience  (that matched my mood) I was looking for.

If you are a local or visitor this is a definite go to spot.  Please check out Marian’s “Boston Favorites” page for upcoming events in the neighborhood like the recent Shop + Nibble Social and Cocktail Bitters + Shrubs Tasting.

Andy and I had a great day strolling through the neighborhood and the highlight was obviously visiting Shake.

I can’t wait for my next visit.

I was in Boston this weekend! I didn’t make it to the North End or this boutique, though 🙁 But I did get to shop a lot of Newbury street! The cactus vases are SO cute!

The Cacti vase and ornament is so cool right? That was one of the first thing that caught my eye when I walked into the store 🙂 Yes, maybe we can go together when you’re in Boston and then go grab a cannoli and cappuccino afterwards 🙂

    Hi Nikki,

I would have avoided the sales too…sometimes they can get a little scary haha

This was such a cool post and “Shake the tree” looks awesome. I love little boutiques like that and the dress you bought is gorgeous! I find you always find the best (and most unique) items in boutique stores.

    • Nikki says:

Lol, yes these sales can get scary sometimes. Agree Talyssa, local boutiques are the trendsetters in the retail world because they constantly hunt for items that will set them apart. The owner Marian does an amazing job with finding unique pieces for her customers. There is so much diversity & individuality at The Shake. Thank you for stopping by beauty. Have a great day ?

Good for you! I felt the same way about the Nordstrom sale. I opted to stay away and instead did some home furnishing shopping, lol. Looks like a great and fun store to shop at. I love checking out less popular stores because you find the greatest treasures in them. You look lovely in that dress by the way.

Agree, items at the Shake are so unique and come from all over the world. Marian is planning her next trip to France soon. Can’t wait to see what she finds on her travels. I love shopping local and finding one of a kind pieces. I’m glad to see that I am not the only one who avoided Nordstrom. I even did a blog post this week about how I avoided the sale.

  7. Rina says:

I love that instead of indulging in the big Nordstrom sale, you took your business to a local spot to do some spending! I love finding little gems in my city. I recently stumbled upon the cutest Instagram mobile shop in Vancouver and fell in love with every single piece! You just can find that kind of selection in a big shop like Nordstrom sometimes.

We all have hometown pride Rina, so it’s great when what you wear reflects that. I agree, I also like that boutiques usually have a very limited selection, in a good way. I like that you can find unique pieces and become a trendsetter 🙂 Thank you for stopping by. Have a great week beautiful ?

I’ve seen so many Nordstrom posts, it’s refreshing to see something different as Nordstrom isn’t a big thing over here in the U.K. I always think it’s nice to be a little different, rather than wearing the same as everyone else. This boutique is so unique. I love the cacti and the dress looks gorgeous on you!

    Hi lovely,

I think it’s great that you’ve gone for something a little different. Lately when I’ve been catching up on everyone’s blog posts it feels as if the whole world is talking about the Nordstrom sale. While it’s lovely taking advantage of the good deals, it’s also nice supporting local boutiques.

    Happy new week beautiful 🙂

Lol, yes it seems like most U.S bloggers went to the Sale. Agree Adrianna, shopping local rocks. Local boutiques are the trendsetters in the retail world because they constantly hunt for items that will set them apart and the Shake definitely does that. Thank you for stopping by Babe. I appreciate the love ? Have a super week as well Xx
